Welcome to Chelmsford Tri Club.

In 2006 a group of cyclist parents and children met or rather continually passed each other on the ‘Flitch Way’ near to the Discovery Centre in Great Notley Country Park, Braintree. After stopping and getting to know each other and finding that amongst their children were good swimmers, cyclists and cross country runners, the Discovery Triathlon Club was born.

Discovery Triathlon Club merged with Infinity Tri Club to form Chelmsford Tri Club in 2019. The Discovery name has been kept for the children’s section and it is hoped to develop an adults section which will be named Infinity.

The Discovery ethos is to enable children from 8-16 to participate in the multi-disciplined sport of triathlon in a social and above all fun environment and to encourage formation of friendship groups outside of the school setting with sport as a shared interest. We welcome children of all abilities from complete beginners through to international standard athletes.

Discovery primarily train during school term times. Our main training venue is at Writtle University College, just outside of Chelmsford. This venue provides excellent facilities for Cycling and Running and we train here on a Thursday evening. For swimming, we use Chelmsford County High School for Girls in Chelmsford on a Wednesday evening and we retain the services of a dedicated swimming coach for this session. During the summer months we also train at Trifarm in Boreham, just outside of Chelmsford where the children experience open water swimming and also have the use of the running track around the lake.
